How lessons work:
Lessons are online using Zoom. This allows for 1 to 1 lessons lasting 50 minutes. Students will typically do a starter activity, recapping the previous session or exploring a concept used in the topic focus (10-15 minutes). This is followed by a topic focus, exploring one key area of maths (35-40 minutes). Lessons end after a quick, verbal review and final opportunity to ask any questions. Some lessons may instead use 50 minutes to work through a past paper.
Free first lesson
Introduction and getting to know the student. The first lesson will be a past paper based on the student's target grade and the date of their maths exam. This allows me to highlight weaknesses straight away to be a focus topic in future lessons. Parents are welcome to join.
Continuing lessons
Students will be able to reserve the same time on a weekly or biweekly basis. Lessons will involve a starter activity followed by a topic focus involving simple examples leading up to exam style questions following "One mark per minute".
Outside of lessons
Parents will be given feedback on all lessons within 72 hours via email. Feedback will include screenshots of everything taught in the previous session for the student to use as a revision aid.

About me:
While working as an accounts assistant, I pursue my passion for teaching in my spare time! I've always been drawn to puzzles and problem solving so teaching maths was an obvious career choice. In my spare time I play chess and despite the game's difficult reputation I found success breaking down individual elements in simple, easy to understand ways. This coincidentally reflects my attitude towards teaching:Simple maths + Lots of practise = Better gradesI find students respond best to straight forward logic thats intuitive, oppose to other teaching styles that may overwhelm or confuse the student. I firmly believe if a topic cannot be taught simplistically, then the teacher does not understand the topic well enough!
